Meet Dr. Gary Gardner

For more than 25 years, Dr. Gary Gardner has been helping improve people’s lives by creating beautiful smiles. His wealth of knowledge comes from years of experience in the military, where he practiced orthodontics, and later trained others for a career within the profession. His professional philosophy involves utilizing patient consultation, combined with individualized treatment options, to create the best possible outcomes.

Education and Training

Dr. Gardner attended Southern Arkansas University and earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry in 1994. He accepted a commission in the US Army Dental Corps at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and attended the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEDG) program before serving as the commander of several remote Army dental clinics in Germany.

In 2000, Dr. Gardner moved to San Antonio, Texas to further his education by attending an Orthodontic residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center.   After his residency, he moved back to Ft. Campbell to serve as Chief of Orthodontics and Director of Orthodontic Education at the same AEGD program he had attended nine years earlier.

He practiced and taught there for several years before returning to San Antonio to accept the positions of Director of Training and Clinical Director at the Tri-Service Orthodontic Residency Program, with the Air Force Postgraduate Dental School. Throughout his career, Dr. Gardner has helped to train numerous orthodontists, all of whom he proudly regards as colleagues.

After more than 21 years of service, he retired as a Colonel in the Army Dental Corps and moved with his family to College Station to enter private practice.

Dr. Gardner is the past President of the Brazos Valley District Dental Society and a member of the Brazos Valley Chapter of the Spear Study Club.  He is also a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists (AAO),  American Dental Education Association, and AAO Society of Orthodontic Educators.  He has authored and co-authored articles in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and the Angle Orthodontist.
